Project Summary

The project, developed in three separate phases, enabled the company to collect product information organised in databases and sources from data of different nature and kind within the PIM, to implement a synchronisation between the management system and the PIM to have consistent and up-to-date information, and to integrate the PIM with content management and digital commerce systems to reduce the time-to-market for sales.

Needs, necessities, the challenge

Climamarket's main requirement was to adopt a PIM so that all product information could be driven from one centralised repository to the different Ecommerce platforms already in use at the company. The product information, which was very different regardless of the brand resold by Climamarket, needed to be structured in different datamodels according to product type. Exporting the information encoded with the ETIM standard into dynamic web-to-print generated cards was a further challenge for the company and GMDE.

Pimcore solution

Pimcore, with its modules dedicated to structuring product information and organising assets, was the solution implemented by GMDE for Climamarket.

An initial data import was made possible by a synchronisation activity with the existing website. Once the first information was organised, synchronisation between the PIM and the ERP adopted by the company proceeded.
After validating the data model, product information, and reconciliation with all the digital material accompanying the products present in the DAM, it was possible to proceed with the integration towards Shopify for updating the international eCommerce (particular activity was done with respect to geolocalised content. The PIM, in fact, allows better management of content translations for subsequent publication on foreign channels).
A second integration was then developed for the management of Italian eCommerce.
Once the online sales channels were organised, Climamarket and GMDE worked on the procedures for the creation of product data sheets (using web-to-print technology) and the generation of sheets with information encoded on the ETIM standard.
